Hazelnut Nib Crunch

I began experimenting with local organic hazelnuts to make a better chocolate hazelnut spread for my kids, much to their delight. They couldn't get their sticky hands off of it, and our cacao hazelnut butter was the result. It's decadent and full, just a little sweet but not saccharine, chocolate-forward but well balanced.

In working with hazelnuts, I noticed how unbelievably luscious they were on their own. High quality hazelnut butter is silky, rich, more a thick syrup in texture than a butter, and completely irresistible. I made it funky & chunky with nibs and hazelnut bits, a little salty with San Juan Island's Reserve Sea Salt, and started putting it on everything.
